Advent calender blog hop---

“I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.”
                                                                                      ―Charles Dickens
Hello dear friends and welcome to the 15th day of jo's advent calender blog hop..
here is my "happy santa" for you all..

i made him with my some left over scrap...
he is a happy Scrappy sweetie..

The theme question of this year is "stockings, sack or something else"?
i wanted to share the "south african"christmas with you...
----  South Africa is in the Southern Hemisphere, Christmas comes in the summer. So there's lots of sun and beautiful flowers in full bloom.
The schools are closed for the Christmas holidays and some people like to go camping. Going carol singing on Christmas Eve, is very popular in towns and cities. Carols by Candlelight services are also popular on Christmas Eve. And many people go to a Christmas morning Church Service.
The Christmas meal is either turkey (or duck), roast beef, mince pies, yellow rice & raisins and vegetables, followed by Christmas Pudding or a traditional south african desert called malva pudding(sometimkes also called LEKKER pudding).People also like to pull Christmas Crackers! The meal is often eaten outside in the summer sun! If it's really hot they might even have a barbecue or 'braai'.
In Afrikaans (one the languages spoken in South Africa) Happy/Merry Christmas is 'Geseënde Kersfees'...
Santa Claus is also known as Sinterklaas & Kersvader....
~*~*
so dear friends, Geseënde Kersfeesto all and dont forget to be good for the rest of the year!
love cucki

Gezegend Kerstfeest :)
It's funny that although Afrikaans is very close to Dutch, and I have there for no problems reading it, I can't understand a word of it, when listening to it. It's a lovely accent though.
Beautiful Santa. Same goes for your pillow.
Wishing you and your loved ones a very merry Christmas

Lovely to hear about your Christmas traditions. Christmas crackers are always on the table in Scotland and when we moved to the US I couldn't find them anywhere and my kids didn't think the Christmas meal was complete without having any crackers to pull! Thankfully crackers are becoming more popular here!
Love your santa and your little pillow is adorable!

What a cute Santa. Thanks for sharing your Christmas traditions. I think, for me, it would be hard to celebrate Christmas when its hot. Even though I don't like winter anymore, I still enjoy the winter holidays.

Here in Oz we have a traditional roast turkey & ham on Christmas Day with all the trimmings - all in 40deg heat!! We must be mad!!! Thank you for sharing your Christmas traditions - it's great to hear how people celebrate the day.
Have a wonderful Christmas & new year

Your scrappy santa is so cute! Having had Christmas in winter all my life, it is really hard to imagine a warm Christmas with camping! It sounds much nicer than the grey and gloomy Christmases we've been having. If only it would snow!!

it's so difficult to imagine Xmas in Summer... (even if it was in summer here , we surely won't be able to have dinner out under the sun hahahaha =D)
