wow me so happy since i came in the blog land..i am truly a busy bee :)

i wanted to share a south african traditional cookies recipe with you all :)

SUGAR COOKIES...................

ingredients:-

 

3 cup margarine (butter)

1 cup sugar

2 eggs

1 tsp vanilla

2 cups flour

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

1	Cream margarine or butter with sugar.
2	Add eggs and vanilla and blend well.
3	Sift together dry ingredients and add to butter/sugar mixture.
4	Chill at least 1-1/2 hours.
5	Roll on floured board to 1/2 inch think.
6	Cut with desired cookie cutters.
7	Bake at 400º 8-10 minutes on a greased cookie sheet.
8	Cool and frost with your favorite frosting!

12 days of christmas...christmas memories

hello dear friends,
my dear friend NIA is hosting a wonderful 12 day of christmas party time :)

here is my first post about stocking and christmas tree..and my childhood memory and traditions..

 art of the wonder of Christmas comes with the sights, sounds, and smells of the season. They carry a certain nostalgia, allowing us to relive the magical moments of our favorite Christmas memories: waking up to a blanket ,baking homemade cookies with Grandma ... driving through neighborhoods in search of the brightest Christmas lights ... midnight Mass ... singing Christmas carols at the nursing home ..

I have tons of wonderful childhood memories of family gatherings, baking and decorating cookies, etc. But, I suppose my favorite Christmas memory is of the first Christmas cake i baked with ouma..we wanted to bake two cakes...

hmmnn

first one in the oven..we both were talking..knitting..and then we gone into the garden..for a walk..because there was a still time left to take out the cake..

ouma slept in the garden on the chair...and me hanging around the trees..

completely forgot about the cake..

and at the end our neighbour knocked at the door that the awful smell is coming and smoke coming out of the kitchen window...

oh dear..i can never forget the sight of that CAKE

MY FIRST CHRISTMAS CAKE :)

i have so many beautiful memory..i can never forget that day i spend the christmas day with my teacher in her house..she was alone on that christmas day..

..talking..laughing..We enjoyed a peaceful morning listening to music, sipping coffee, opening gifts, and then spent that afternoon happily.

Rainy Weekend

hello dear friends and folks,
HAPPY MONDAY :)
i hope you all had a great happy weekend..

it was raining so much..so cold and so wet..
so what better way to spend the weekend..

i had a real crafty weekend..it is my rainy weekend fun finish <3

Hello Dear Friends! I hope your weekend has been good so far. We did get more of rain & some cooler temperatures. i took out my jersy.. maloo us hiding under her blanket..all cosy and warm.

yup..i am stitching...
I would like to share these with you. Things that kept me busy the past couple of days...

 this stitching is for my friend sheryl rr..her theme was letter S..this is the first letter of her name..and i chose this design..but i changed it little bit..i wanted to make it so special for her..some of my favourites things are on this piece..bird..bird house..flowers..bow..heart charm..
now it is ready to post.

oh i am crazy for scissor fobs and this one came out so cute..i fell in love with it..
now i will hunt for some more lovely beads to make some more like this ;)

i received a treasure of love and sweetness in the mail from dear Teresa..she has a lovely blog "Teresa's heartfelt Stitches"
a beautiful pink bag full of lovely goodies..

oh my!I AM GOING CRAZY WITH HAPPINESS.. look at all those lovely threads,,cute kits and all those lovely charts..for me this is truly a parcel of treasure and kindness..i never seen such lovely threads here..we dont have them here..and the charts are so lovely too...for me all these goodies are so special..

i finished this picture few years ago and it is my one of my fav stitching..you can almost hear the crunch of snow underfoot as these two beautifully dressed japanese ladies take a wintry walk...
i put my last stitches on the picture on 25 dec..

                                                        CHRISTMAS IN SOUTH AFRICA
We are not dreaming of a white Christmas, but rather a day at the beach or in a park with family and a big barbeque grill! Christmas here in South Africa is in the height of summer time and is celebrated somewhat different than from some other countries that have snow on christmas day.. Since it is summer time all the children are on a month long break from school and many people take this time off from work as well.

Some businesses shut down for the month of December. People take this holiday very seriously and are intent on truly relaxing. And you will find that most people celebrate Christmas Day outside in their backyards, down at the beach or anywhere that they can be together with family and friends. Christmas in South Africa is about being with family and friends, sharing a meal together and about relaxing.

 People also have Christmas dinners after the service, preparing tables out in front of their home and inviting many of their intimate friends to share. Homes are decorated with pine branches, and the decorated Christmas fir is a must, with presents for the children around.
 When it comes to dinner at the time of christmas in South Africa, most people prefer traditional dishes like turkey, roast beef, mince pies, yellow rice with raisins, vegetables, and plum pudding.
 Children are fond of the age-old custom of producing pantomimes--for instance, "Babes in the Wood," founded on one of the oldest ballads in the English language. Boxing Day, on December 26th, when boxes of food and clothing are given to the poor, is observed as a holiday.
