starting the journey....to cape twon..small blog vacation

We are leaving for cape town just now..while i am writing this post it is 5:30 A.M of the morning..we going to leave just now now :D
it is  a long drive by car..
it is 1400km from johburg and in miles it is 871.
I am soo excited, i have packed my some stitchy stuff and stitchy mags too..and my sweet little TUSAL jar too..
yup..the little wee thingy is going with me too..
so
I am ready to go!
Sadly though I don't think i will have much internet access,but i will try my best to squeeze in the blog land somehow he he he.. if not, then i will have to take a blog vacation :(
*sad* cucki is in tears** SNIFFLE...

 I will miss you all and my little gooffy bloggy too..
 But we are coming back after christmas on 26 december. and when i get back i'm sure i will have lotsssssssssss of yummyyyy stuff to share with you all :)

IHSW (december) stitching..and winner of my christmas giveaway :)

hello dear friends and folks,
another monday..came so fast..it has a been a busy weekend for me..i was cleaning, cooking, washing,packing,shopping and of course STITCHING too :)
i did some mixed sort of stitchy stuff this IHSW weekend..let me think from where i can start?
but..first..
another good news..
i won another GIVEAWAY from cross stitch queen..

now my IHSW stitchy time..

and the news is i didnt found the stitching yet the one i started..i dont know where i kept it safely...
i was telling auntie sophie(my neighbour) about it and she said..leave it..it will turn up by itself..
but me still wondering..where is that secret corner in the house?
so i started this small kit i had from a long time..for my kitchen..

i stitched so far on this..
then..
i was thinking about that spoon..i was in wandering mood over that sunday(and still today) and that spoon came in my mind..i so much wanted to give it a try..

well..
so far i did this much on my IHSW stitchy weekend..
i am just busy packing..then unpacking..taking out things..putting back some..running here and there..so it is very crazy here...but i am so happy because it is a busy but fun time and i am enjoying every second of it..ME HAPPY..

auntie sophie's christmas tree :)
i so much wanted to share this sweet christmas tree..auntie sophie is a elderly lady and my dear friend and our neighbour too..i love her so much..
this green tree ornament from my side for her tree..she loves it so much...we spent the sunday afternoon together talking..laughing..and eating ice-cream and biscuits..i wont be here for christmas to see her..i will miss her so much.

 well in my ramblings i nearly forgot about the christmas giveaway winner..i just used the old method..i wrote everyone names on the paper slips,, and put them in a basket and my son pick up one..

i've been  busy busy busy flying around here and there making preparations for our holidays,fixing the house,making the garden pretty..mr.given gave me his last help now he is off too..he is gone away to Natal back to his village..now he will come back after the new year..so the i am the only care taker of the garden now..completely in my hands..

Things are coming along nicely and I'm having soooo much fun :)
we leaving on next week tuesday morning and we will come back ..after christmas..we all so excited for our special holiday time..

THE weather is finally cooled off her after all the rain we had..today is such a lovely summer day..
The temps have dropped a little bit and the air smells fresh again.

after this i am thinking to do something productive again today...

i better go and look for it and finish it because it is a wee gift for my hubby for our anniversary :)

12 days of christmas...**oh! calories**

I am often asked where my love  for food started. i have such an incredible amount of food-based memories and it’s hard to pick just one, but the memory that gives me the most joy is one involving my entire family on Sunday afternoons.
 For dessert we would always have Malva Pudding..it is a sweet pudding,almost like sticky toffee pudding.. which is usually served hot with sauce, custard or ice-cream and you will often find it on the dessert menu in many South African restaurants.
This is soooo good and one of my all time favourite dessert . if you have family that love food as much as we do and rich, hot, tasty desserts..then you will truly love this :)

Malva Pudding Ingredients, To make traditional South African Malva pudding you will need:

• 1 cup of milk
• 1 cup of (light) brown sugar
• 3 teaspoons of apricot jam
• 1 teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda
• 1 teaspoon of vinegar
• 1 cup of plain white flour
• 1 egg
• 4 teaspoons of butter

Malva Pudding Sauce

• 1 cup whipping cream (not whipped)
• 6 ounces butter
• 1 cup white sugar
• 1/2 cup hot water

To make Malva Pudding, first beat the egg and brown sugar together until the mixture is thick and light, then stir in the apricot jam.
Sift the flour and bicarbonate of soda together.
Melt butter and vinegar together and then add the milk.
Add the sifted dry ingredients to egg mixture alternating with milk mixture.
Pour batter into greased oven-proof dish. Bake at 180 C for about 30 minutes, or until lightly browned.
For the Sauce:
Melt together the ingredients for the sauce and pour over the pudding as it comes out of the oven.
